I am really excited to be back for the second year as the Head Pro for Kew Gardens. This past winter my staff and I attended a week long PTR tennis symposium in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. It was very informative and we look forward to sharing all the new ideas on court this season!
I am now 32, but I began playing tennis with my dad in Poland at age 7 using a wooden racquet on a parking lot! After coming to Canada at age 10, I continued to work hard to improve my game. I have very fond memories of the Kew especially after winning the Provincial Championships U14, U16 and U18 here. At age 18, I was ranked #1 in Canada winning the Canadian National title followed by a full scholarship to Nick Bollettieri’s Academy. Before attending University in the States, I was Boris Becker’s hitting partner for one year and was ranked on the ATP circuit. I am Tennis Canada Level Coach 3 certified and I am finishing up the second and final year of my Coach 4 certification in June! I am Club Pro 2 and PTR Professional Certified and I was also Provincial coach for the U14 and U18 Nationals. For the past four years I have also been working at Donalda Golf and Country Club. I am looking forward to meeting you all this season and seeing you on court!

AL MILLAR Head Tennis Assistant

Raised at Kew but originally from Scotland, Al is a certified Ontario Tennis Association Instructor as well as a Club Pro 2 candidate.
He became one of the first coaches in the country to receive a Cardio Tennis certification by the OTA, Alastair now assists the OTA by training coaches to become Cardio Tennis certified. This winter after being named “OTA Give Tennis a Shot Coach of the Month (October)”, Alastair taught with the Give Tennis a Shot program teaching Cardio Tennis classes to underprivileged kids in the GTA. Also in the winter Alastair worked for the Toronto Tennis Academy as well as the National Training Center working with high performance juniors.
In February Alastair attended the Professional Tennis Registry International Symposium a week long event where coaches from around the world share ideas about teaching. Alastair along with his business partner (Fraser Burley) will continue to run Kew Gardens Official Pro Shop “King of the Court” where his United States Racquet Stringers Association certification comes in handy.
Alastair is the team captain of Kew Gardens Men’s A1 and Winter Majors teams and holds an undefeated A1 record or 8-0 going into the summer 2009 season which includes a win over former Davis Cup player. Al is a former 2006 Men's "A" Provincial Finalist. Al is also a member of the Dunlop Tennis Advisory Staff. Alastair is thrilled to be back for his 7th year at Kew Gardens, following up his first year as Junior Program Assistant and can’t wait to start his first season as Head Tennis Assistant.

DUSTIN SEXTON Adult Program Assistant

Dustin Sexton is a lifetime area resident, who began playing tennis at Kew Gardens at the early age of 6. He is currently a qualified instructor that is certified by Tennis Canada, and brings with him over 16 years of coaching experience geared towards varying levels of play. This past winter Dustin attended a week long PTR tennis symposium in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. He is an outgoing and passionate individual who is dedicated to developing the sport of tennis within the Beach community. This season, Dustin will be assisting with various adult programs as well as junior summer camps. In addition, he is also available to work collaboratively with you to create a program to suit your individual tennis goals.
